Vintage Styled Shoot- Sloane
One Room Schoolhouse Studio
It's Sloane's turn for the blog! I had so much fun with this shoot, from the beginning when I spotted these dresses at The ReSale Boutique in Saline, MI I knew I wanted to shoot them at the new studio space. The "Cow Palace", as it's affectionately known in my family, was an old town hall on my grandparents (now cousins) property. My grandparents moved it to their farm in the 1960's from just down the road. It makes the perfect backdrop for this kind of vintage shoot. This dress from the time I saw it reminded me of a soft romaticism, a modern version of the grace and elegance of 1930's style. Sloane was the perfect model. Her young grace and beauty were a perfect match to the soft pink vintage dress and she brought her cowboy boots which was added fun! I hope you enjoy some of the images I captured. A true beauty she is inside and out.
I met Rachel and Alex through their flower girls who were previous clients of mine. I was so blessed to be part of their lives on this special day. We first met at their engagement session at MSU, stay tuned for the images from that session (but you can preview one of their images on the cover page of the website)! But for now, skip forward with me to the wedding. It took place beachside in St. Joseph Michigan. We had a little rain, we had a little sun (no snow thank goodness) but it was a beautiful day, filled with lots of love. Rachel and her mom put in lots of work in getting every detail just right, from the flowers that a family member arranged to the horse and carriage for Rachel and her Uncle to arrive at the wedding in and everything in between. Thank you Rachel and Alex for choosing me to document the rain and the shine! Here's to a beautiful future for some fantastic people!!

Catching up on blog posts, with the resolution to be better at it in 2014. No better gals to start with than these two. Precious Ava and her Mom. I know this session was not easy for either of them, and little Ava showed us how she felt with her Daddy inspired face the first time we attempted the shoot. But by the second try she was ready to go outside, give some hugs and smiles. They went through so much in 2013, I'm praying that 2014 brings them beautiful old memories and fun new ones. Since I am better with pictures than with words, I will leave you to them. Thanks for stopping by!

I am so blessed to do what I love. 2013 was no exception. I was blessed to capture memories for families from birth and beyond and everything in between. I was there to capture growing children who I have been privileged to photograph over and over, and I was there to meet and photograph new faces and friends for the first time. My camera and I were there to capture the weddings of some beautiful couples, high school seniors getting a special day just for them, and kids of all ages and their families. The following are some of my favorites from the sessions in 2013. Enjoy the slideshow. If you make it all the way through it leave me a comment on the blog and let me know your favorite!
To all of you who I call friends, family, and clients, both near and far, thank you for making 2013 a wonderful year. I wish you many more beautiful memories for 2014, and look forward to meeting new faces! Happy New Year from Heidi McClelland Photography!
