“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4
January 13, 2015:
I thought since little Chad is starting his clinical trial tomorrow it would be good to get this out tonight so that his prayer warriors can remember once again to pray for him and for his family.
If you don't know Chad's story, he is the son of a friend of mine and was diagnosed this fall with DIPG, which is an inoperable brain tumor. He has already been through radiation and came thru that like a champ, it was successful in reducing the tumor by 90%. He still has a fight to fight though and is in New York City this week to have surgery in a clinical trial at Sloan Kettering. To read more about his story his Mom is better with words than I am... https://www.facebookstories.com/stories/117197/chad-tough
Just before he started his radiation we were able to do a photoshoot for his family, and this was the result. We were blessed with a beautiful fall day and a beautiful location thanks to some great friends. For me it was such a gift to be able to watch and capture this family interacting with one another, in the moment, happy, loving, enjoying each little hug, laugh and even some pretty flowers, and their new puppy Tootie. One of the most moving experiences I have had in my career, to watch and capture this little victor, his brave brothers, and parents get ready to fight the fight of their lives. I am praying that these images will be cherished memories for them for a very long time as a reminder of the start of a winning battle. So please if you are seeing these, say a prayer for Chad and for his family, for the doctors and nurses as they care for him and the other patients fighting childhood cancer, and share with your friends and ask them to pray, as they move into this next step in the treatment of this disease.

Thank you!

We did this session at my One Room Schoolhouse studio and it was a perfect fit for the vintage inspired Matilda Jane dresses that they wore. A little bit of vintage with a little bit of fun. So pretty. Mom even got in for a few images and I am so glad she did. They played ring a round the rosie with a twist ("we all fall down" turned into "we all spin around" so we didn't get the pretty dresses dirty).
Looking forward to the next time I get to see them!

Vintage Styled Shoot- Sloane
One Room Schoolhouse Studio
It's Sloane's turn for the blog! I had so much fun with this shoot, from the beginning when I spotted these dresses at The ReSale Boutique in Saline, MI I knew I wanted to shoot them at the new studio space. The "Cow Palace", as it's affectionately known in my family, was an old town hall on my grandparents (now cousins) property. My grandparents moved it to their farm in the 1960's from just down the road. It makes the perfect backdrop for this kind of vintage shoot. This dress from the time I saw it reminded me of a soft romaticism, a modern version of the grace and elegance of 1930's style. Sloane was the perfect model. Her young grace and beauty were a perfect match to the soft pink vintage dress and she brought her cowboy boots which was added fun! I hope you enjoy some of the images I captured. A true beauty she is inside and out.
]]>To all of you who I call friends, family, and clients, both near and far, thank you for making 2013 a wonderful year. I wish you many more beautiful memories for 2014, and look forward to meeting new faces! Happy New Year from Heidi McClelland Photography!

Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers. Took advantage of the beautiful spring weather we have been having to do a styled shoot with this lovely lady and the lilac blooms. I really wanted to do a few styled shoots that featured spring flowers before the heat of summer arrives. The lilacs since they are my favorite were the first in the series, to be followed soon by the delicate dogwoods. Cold and snowy day to bring in the first day of March, but it had me thinking of the warm days of August. This session was filled with sand, sun, and lots of smiles from the Fisher family!

Spent last evening playing at the park with some really fun kiddos! It was a beautiful day and there were lots of other people at the park, but we managed to carve out a space of our own and have some fun. Here is a sneak peek of some of the shots we got…
